Gearbox remapping modifies a vehicle’s transmission through its TCU (transmission control unit) to increase performance. Different to a gearbox update, a software remap may be able to alter the following:

• Gearshift Speeds: Increasing the engine speed at which the gearbox changes up a gear.
• Torque Limiters: Alterations to the TCU torque limiters can ensure the transmission is unable to limit the performance of the engine.
• Hydraulic Pressure: By increasing the hydraulic pressure, this can increase the clutch clamping pressure, preventing clutch-slip on highly tuned vehicles.
• Shift Points: Without modifying the TCU software, it is often not possible to change the rpm limiter of the engine.

Gearbox remapping can often achieve much faster or smoother gear changes, providing improvements in acceleration along with increased torque and fuel efficiency.
